Young Researchers¡Ç Award

Winners: Jun Mashino, NTT Access Network Service Systems Laboratories

Date: March 18, 2009

Organization: The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers of Japan

For (1) ¡ÈA Study on Subcarrier Overlapping for OFDMA Wireless Systems¡É (in Japanese) and (2) ¡ÈAn Interference Suppression Scheme Using FEC Metric Masking for Superposed Multi-Carrier Transmission¡É (in Japanese).

The total frequency utilization efficiency is greatly improved by applying the proposed wireless transmission schemes, which allow subcarrier superposing over the air, and using the proposed reception techniques to suppress undesirable interference effect.

For ¡ÈService Delivery Platform Architecture for the Next-Generation Network¡É.

This paper describes an advanced service delivery platform that should be useful in the Next Generation Network (NGN). To meet diverse demands from NGN customers, it is very effective to integrate state-of-the-art technologies beyond the boundaries of technical domains, such as the telecommunication, enterprise, and Internet fields, to enrich services and mash up simple service elements to produce unlooked-for value-added services. We use the service oriented architecture concept as a basis and extend it to ease the creation of customised or personalised services. The main features of our platform are context-aware dynamic binding of service components, finer-grained SIP (session initiation protocol) call handling, and execution control for guaranteeing the service level agreement. We expect this platform to play an important role in the NGN or ubiquitous communication environments.
